After our museum-filled morning (pictures and post still to come!) we walked over to the Albert Cuyp Market. Had to try another one of the local specialties, poffertjes, which are small pancake-like treats with powdered sugar and butter. And of course had to have some more frites...with mayo! 😋 Also I was a little healthy and had a green smoothie with Kale, spinach, banana, and apple but that’s not fun to take a picture of haha!
Had to hop on the ferry to go check out Noord Amsterdam. I had seen Pllek and wanted to go check it out. It’s a cafe built inside old shipping containers with beachside seating on the water. Really nice weather to sit and have a Heineken. D was lost in thought as you can see. 😊 Oh and earlier had the BEST grilled cheese ever.
...
adding a photo of my Bacon lettuce tomato sammich since it was also very tasty -D
What a memorable experience. Cameras are not allowed inside - for good reason. It was so moving to be inside there and hear the stories of a family hiding out for 2 years before ultimately being arrested and killed...just for being Jewish. So hard to believe this is a part of our history. Anne seemed like a sweet, intelligent, and funny girl. Who knows what the future could have held for her if she’d been given the chance to live.
Flight landed around 10:30 am local time (so 4:30 am EST) and I of course could not really sleep on the plane. 😞 So we checked into the hotel and immediately got out into the fresh air to try to wake up. Loved seeing the old buildings and bridges and cute little cars. And of course had to grab a couple of treats. Early-ish bedtime tonight so we will be ready for tomorrow’s adventures and waaay more pics!!
