Had dinner at our hotel's restaurant, Riviera. Nice view of the sunset from our table. Really good pasta and pizza and we had the traditional Bavarian dessert Kaisershmarrn. It's shredded pancakes with apple sauce. I said it tasted like funnel cake bites haha. So good! We were hungry after walking 11 miles during the day!!

Walked the loop around the beautiful Lake Eibsee. 4.3 mile trail (after hiking the castle that morning - we ended the day at 11 miles walked).

Drove about an hour south of the castle to Lake Eibsee. Pretty mountains to look at along the way!

What a hike!! Climbed up a hilly path for about 45 min to get to the castle then another 15 to the bridge over the gorge. Well worth it though! The castle that was built by King Ludwig but inspired Walt Disney 😍

Dinner at Steakhaus Füssen ... good food and great view!

Dinner at a steakhouse with a view. Food was great! Have never had meleted cheese and tomato on a baked potato but it was yummy 😋

Hotel for nights 2-3 on Lake Hopfensee. The balcony view was pretty great!

Man made waterfall built in the 18th century to help with flood control. The water was beautiful here! 

Drove about two and a half hours south from Rothenburg to Fussen. Part of the route went through Austria and D hit 115mph on the Autobahn in the no speed limit section 😳 

Had an amazing breakfast in Rothenburg before we hit the road 😋 

Got up early Sunday to walk the town walls that completely encircles the town. It's one of the few towns where the town wall is still completely intact (most towns would tear down parts of the walls after it was no longer needed to build other building in town). It's made up of 42 towers and six gates. 

Landed in Munich on Sat morning and drove the two and a half hours to Rothenburg. Such a cute little medieval city!

Found this cute little modern boutique hotel on the outskirts of the medieval town square. Nice view of the fall colors from our window 🍁
